This is a facsimilie of the original 1885 edition and is nicely bound in brown leather with gilt spine and cover lettering, stamped decorated covers, and all edges are gilt. Printed in two versions, this is the Deluxe Edition issued in real leather with gilt edges and an sewn in ribbon bookmark. The covers are brown leather with gilt spine and cover lettering (the Standard Edtion has faux leather covers with white edges). Contains two color illustrations in the front matter and b&w illustrations throughout. The original edition is quite scarce. This book is referenced in most western Americana bibliographies. Howes calls it "the first--and best--cowboy biography." This is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings, just a few light scratches to the original gilt edges (visible under certain lighting conditons). ; Classics of the Old West Series; Color & B&W Illustrations; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 316 pages .
