Twelve Fables of Aesop narrated by Glenway Wescott, illustrated with 18 linoleum blocks by Antonio Frasconi, designed and printed in three colors (black, gray, and red) on Rives mould-made paper by Joseph Blumenthal at the Spiral Press, New York, from hand-set Emerson type and from the artist's original blocks. The edition is limited to 975 numbered copies and 25 lettered review copies, all signed by Mr. Frasconi, Mr. Wescott, and Mr. Blumenthal. This copy is one of the 25 lettered copies (copy number "F"). In addition to the other three signatures, it is signed by Monroe Wheeler. In 1935 Wheeler was employed by New York's Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). He was on the Library Committee and in three years he was Director of Membership and the following year Director of Publications. Printed in the Swedish language. Of legendary scarcity and in superb condition. In the publisher's 1/4 cloth with marble-effect boards, pp. 119 (120), the binding is firm and square, corners sharp. The block remains fresh and white and is free from previous owner names, finger-marking etc. A Fine example. The dustjacket is in VG shape without loss. A small nick to the top edge of the rear panel, minor shelf-wear along the top edge. Fixed to the title-page a beautiful example of the author's hand-signed autograph in green ink. A spectacular copy of this classic work.

Matthew Perry was one of the most important American Naval officers during the 19th-century. While he was notable for his involvement in the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War, his most famous accomplishment came as the leader of a voyage to Japan beginning in 1852 aboard the East India Squadron. This series of short visits sought to pursue Japanese trade treaties, but Perry and his crew discovered much more – Japanese and Chinese cultures, politics, coal mining and agriculture, as well as attempts at occupation of Formosa. The artist's abstract and quite varied series of 43 drawings of flags, all printed monochrome on the recto of pages. Kingsley Parker has been exhibiting and represented by galleries since the mid-1970s and has a work in the collection of the Museum Of Modern Art in New York, NY. The artist is quite active with new works. Signed in ink "K. Parker/1976 ©" in the front matter where Parker explains his motivation for drawing the series of abstract flags. Copy 158 of a limited edition of 600, numbered in the colophon. Approximately 44 pages, unpaginated. Printed on fine, machine-made paper in brown wraps. The title and a flag drawing are framed on the front cover. In absolutely clean, Fine condition. ; Drawings; Square 24mo 5" - 6" tall; 44 pages; Signed by Artist .
