Sobre este artículo
Chicago: Belford, Clarke & Co., 1888 A groundbreaking work of historical fiction and arguably the first English historical novel, the story was derived from eyewitness accounts of British soldiers and Polish refugees fleeing the failed revolts against the foreign occupation of Poland in the 1790s. This is the Belford 1888 Caxton Edition reprint of the 1803 original. Condition notes: 459 numbered pp; HB. Pages: clean, ivory/tanned, tight, large b/w frontis, decorative eps; a.e. well sunned, front hinge cracked at dedication page. Cover: brown decorative cloth, elaborately stamped/embossed front/spine, black and reverse titles front, reverse titles to gilt spineblock; modest shelfwear, extrems moderately worn, top back corner and edge bumped, several ghosts front. I’m making what is a very nice copy sound hideous – it’s not.
