1754. Financing the Churches of England and Wales Ecton, John [d.1730]. Thesaurus Rerum Ecclesiasticarum. Being an Account of the Valuations of All the Ecclesiastical Benefices In the Several Dioceses in England and Wales, As They Now Stand Chargeable With, Or Lately were Discharged From, The Payment of First-Fruits and Tenths. To Which are Added the Names of the Patrons, And Dedications of the Churches. To the Whole are Subjoin'd, Proper Directions and Precedents Relating to Presentation, Institution, Induction, Dispensations, &c. London: Printed for J. and P. Knapton, S. Birt [et al.], 1754. xl, 704 pp. Folio (10-1/4" x 8-1/2"). Contemporary calf, blind rules to boards, rebacked retaining existing spine with raised bands and lettering pieces, a few repaired scuffs to boards, upper corners mended, hinges reinforced with cloth tape. Moderate rubbing to boards, corners bumped and somewhat worn, signatures c and d (pp. xvii-xxxii) partially detached, crack in text block between pp. 698-699. Some toning to text, spotting to a few leaves, internally clean. $150. * "Second" edition, actually the fifth. First published in 1711 as Liber Valorum et Decimarum, this is a list of all of the churches in England and Wales and their sources of income. In most cases extracts from procurations, synodals and decrees creating sources of income are included. Our 1754 edition is the second to bear the title Thesaurus Rerum Ecclesiasticarum. Later editions were published in 1763, 1785 and 1786, the final two editions with the title Liber Regis, Vel Thesaurus Rerum Ecclesiasticarum. English Short-Title Catalogue T136240.

The Antiquarian Book Department offers a wide range of Continental, British, and American books, manuscripts, and ephemera from the medieval era through the twentieth century. The Publications Department offers reprints of over 1,000 landmark or otherwise interesting works, many with newly commissioned introductions, and several original publications. The Lawbook Exchange also offers appraisals and provides assistance with collection development. Originally a company that serviced law firms exclusively, it now serves thousands of lawyers,scholars, and institutions worldwide.
