Review and Herald Publishing Assn., 1882; early (possibly first) printing of combined edition; [i-ii], [frontis portrait], [iii-iv], v-xx, 21-840pp., frontis + 11 illustrated plates, five of which have one or more color elements added to them. Bound in 3/4 leather, with pebbled maroon cloth on boards; gilt page block edges. Binding is tight, sturdy, and square; leather is worn at edges and hinges, leather backstrip partially torn along rear hinge; cloth on front board is faded and mottled, likely a result of a comprehensive silver fish attack; moderate amount of silver-fishing to rear board as well; gilt titling on spine remains bright and bold; plates and text very good throughout.
