Previous owners ink inscription to the front pastedown and front endpaper and also to verso of the title page. Written by the Rev. William Dodd, during his time in prison prior to his execution. Dodd was imprisoned on the charge of forgery, and was hanged at Tyburn in 1777. This particular work features his reflections on the judicial and prison systems of the 18th century. In addition to this volume features Dodd's last prayer, written that before his death, and a selection of his other miscellaneous works. In a full tree calf binding.
