Frau und der Sozialismus (Bebel, August) §  Eleanor Marx-Aveling (1855-1898) was a prominent socialist feminist activist and writer. She was the youngest daughter of Karl Marx, the influential philosopher and economist, and his wife, Jenny von Westphalen. Eleanor Marx-Aveling was a leading figure in the British socialist movement during the late 19th century. She was a prolific writer, contributing articles and reviews to a number of socialist publications, and was also a translator, particularly of her father's work. Marx-Aveling was a committed feminist and campaigned for women's rights, including the right to vote. She was involved in the foundation of the Socialist League and later joined the Social Democratic Federation. She was also a founding member of the Women's Trade Union League and was active in the struggle for better working conditions for women. Marx-Aveling's personal life was marked by tragedy, including the death of her partner, Edward Aveling, and her own suicide in 1898. Despite her relatively short life, Marx-Aveling made a significant contribution to the socialist and feminist movements of her time." // Aveling, Eleanor Marx, 1855-1898, author.
