Rust colored cloth boards with yellow spine label and black titles - corners sharp. Minor shelf/edge wear to original unclipped DJ - now in mylar. Some foxing to rear DJ flap edges and to textblock edges. Deckled edges. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean and unmarked. The story of cattlemen in the west. Basis for the 1959 film directed by Richard Fleischer and featuring Don Murray, Richard Egan, and Lee Remick. Alfred Bertram Guthrie Jr. (January 13, 1901 – April 26, 1991) was an American novelist, screenwriter, historian, and literary historian known for writing western stories. His novel The Way West won the 1950 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and his screenplay for Shane (1953) was nominated for an Academy Award. A very nice First Edition copy in DJ. LOC SSE-06
