Following the end of the text, there is a full-page illustration and 17 pages of very interesting advertisements. Original cloth with title in gilt on cover, worn and stained; interior very good. With the bookplate of Chas. F. Quincy. First edition. Well-known American sculptor Enid Yandell (1869-1934), along with Jean Loughborough and Laura Hayes tell the story of three young women living in Chicago leading up to the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. Written in a journalist style and semi-autobiographical, Yandell enlisted the help of her two friends, one a secretary and the other a file clerk, to write the adventures of the three female characters as they traverse society in the latter part of the nineteenth century. Illustrated throughout by Helen M. Armstrong, A.B. Wenzell, C. Graham, True Williams, J.H. Vanderpoel, A.F. Brooks, Hugh Tallant, and Walter Tallant Owen.
