Bristol: J W Arrowsmith, 1889 Later but early corrected impression of the first edition, with '11 Quay Street, Bristol' address, slate blue grey cloth cover in black with border title author and vignette of a punt. Spine gilt title / author/ device. corners and edges rubbed, 5mm hole lower joint. Top part of front paste down has been removed showing the book board beneath. Facing page is half title with a bookseller stamp. 315 pp + 3pp adverts including rear paste down. One leaf has edge faults due to careless opening. Throughout there may be some soiling and fingermarks etc to the pages but this is usually superficial, have noticed one or two light pencil lines. Line vignettes etc in the text. . reprint. Decorative Cloth. Good/No Jacket. Illus. by A Frederics. 8vo - over 7? - 9? tall.
Sinopsis
Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog), published in 1889, is a humorous account by Jerome K. Jerome of a boating holiday on the Thames between Kingston and Oxford. The book was initially intended to be a serious travel guide, with accounts of local history along the route, but the humorous elements took over to the point where the serious and somewhat sentimental passages seem a distraction to the comic novel.

Laugh out loud hysterical! Every other line is hilarious! I made the mistake of reading this in public not realizing how funny it is! My advice is not to do that! You will not be able to stop the guffaws, snickers, chuckles from bursting forth. Mr. Jerome certainly knew how to write a witty and fantastic story. I'm happy that I found this masterpiece.
