New York: Okeh Records, 1941. Three vintage Okeh Records catalogs, representing the years 1929 and 1941, and the month of August, 1940.
Although the company's releases spanned a number of musical genres, Okeh became best known for its jazz and blues "race" recordings, releasing a string of successful singles by Louis Armstrong, Lonnie Johnson, King Oliver, Lucille Bogan, Sidney Bechet, Hattie McDaniel, Duke Ellington, and many others. Okeh was also one of the first companies to focus on field recordings, capturing performances by a wide range of American musicians in the jazz, blues, folk, and country genres. Okeh is today owned by Sony, and focuses on world jazz music.
Catalogs vary in size, from 3 x 6 inches to 5.5 x 8.25 inches. One with an owner name and address in manuscript ink on the first leaf, else about Near Fine.
