McCorkle was a young Missouri farmer of Southern sympathies who became a prominent member of William Clarke Quantrill's infamous guerrillas. The took advantage of the turmoil in the Missouri-Kansas borderland to prey upon pro-Union people." He participated in raids including the massacres at Lawrence and Baxter Springs, Kansas, and Centralia, Missouri.
Book Condiiton: Very Good-. This got the "minus" because there are a few light stains on the inside front cover, a slight bit of "wrinkling" of the first 40 or so pages (barely there and does not affect the text at all), and tiny soft top corner creases on the first 8 pages - otherwise pages are clean and binding is tight. Outside covers in excellent condition and no spine crease.
232 pages including Index.
