The boards are now protected by a clear removable sleeve. Ownership inscription dated 1898 on front free end-paper. Pp.xxxiv,663 + 2pp publisher's adverts. Tissue-guarded frontispiece + 42 illustrations. Folding map with sellotape repairs. Translated from the French and edited by the author's niece, Catherine Winkworth MacKintosh. An account of the author's missionary work on the Upper Zambesi.
