This book was intended as a sequel to Self-Help and Character also written by Samuel Smiles, with 'thrift' being the basis of self help and the foundation of excellent character. The work explores means of saving, economy in life assurance, savings and the art of living. Samuel Smiles was a British author and government reformer. With eight pages of adverts to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some fading to the joints and extremities and bumping to the head and tail of the spine with light marks to the boards. Previous owner inscription to the reverse of the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages. Very Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
