The author, Dolores Kendrick was named Poet Laureate of the District of Columbia in 1999. Her book The Women of Plums: Poems in the Voices of Slave Women won the Anisfield-Wolfe Award. This was her first published book of poetry. In Good+ Condition: front wrapper scraped over publisher's logo at top left; wrapper slightly soiled; pages are clean and bright.
