Octavo; blue cloth hardcover; brown top-stain; dustjacket; xii,341pp; frontispiece and 15 inserted leaves of photographic plates (halftones). Tight, clean, Near Fine copy, with top-stain deep and even. In the original dustwrapper, unclipped (priced $3.50 on front flap); somewhat rubbed and edgeworn with a single paper repair to verso and sunning to spine panel and folds; just Very Good.
Memoir of the important frontier photographer and painter, whose photographs taken as a member of the 1870 Hayden Expedition were some of the earliest documentation of the region now encompassed by Yellowstone National Park. Jackson (1843-1942) was nearly one hundred years old at time his autobiography was published, imposing a natural limit to the number of autographed copies available.
