Dunne finds it fruitful to approach death as a "myth", that our life histories are stories within stories, from birth to death, we tell over and again. In doing so, Dunne argues, is to treat these narratives as personal adventures experienced in our journey home, like the Odyessy. Each becomes a memorable instance in which we look at the unknown, and the face of God. Dunne discerns 2 stages in the story telling analysis approach: firstly, a withdrawal for reflection, and secondarily, a moment of acceptance which marks man's attainment of "all-oneness" with God's creation. A Christian based philosophical approach to life and death through applying critical, literary analysis hitherto restricted to the domain of fictional tales to our personnal adventures, journeys, and voyages experienced through childhood, youth, manhood and old age, and, stories of God.
