The author of this uniquely fascinating novel was the American author and journalist Henry Hazlitt (1894-1993), especially known for celebrating the free market in "Economics in One Lesson." Hazlitt was a libertarian philosopher, economist, and journalist for various publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Newsweek. He was the founding vice-president of the Foundation for Economic Education and an early editor of The Freeman, a pivotal libertarian magazine. In 1946 he wrote "Economics in One Lesson," a seminal and easily digested discourse on free market economics, which Ayn Rand called a "magnificent job of theoretical exposition."
