Monumental bibliographical listing of nearly 6800 works published by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences from 1869 to 1953, organized sequentially by publication number and year, with a complete alphabetical index to all works cited. Very Good, clean and bright, binding tight and square, corners sharp. A small rectangular portion in the blank margin at the upper right corner of the title page, approximately 3/8" high by 2" long, has been clipped out, not affecting text on either side. Text in Bulgarian. A rare reference.

Scholarly study of the literary form of the Bulgarian language, with lengthy contributions by five specialists in the field. Edited by Samuil Borosovich Bernshtein. Text in Russian. Very Good Plus. Clean, crisp, bright, corners sharp, no ownership signatures or any other markings of any kind.

Moscow: Molodaya Gvardia, 1964. First Russian Book Edition. 351,[1] pp., with several in-text illustrations. Cloth-backed pictorial paper over boards. Early Russian ink inscription and inkstamp on rear pastedown. A few small scribbles in blue ink on covers and ink stains on cloth. Edges of boards lightly worn, front hinge cracked. Contents lightly toned, but surprisingly fresh for the quality of the paper. A good copy. The pirated first Russian book edition, after a 1963 appearance in the periodical INOSTRANAYA LITERATURA ("Foreign Literature") and a 1964 special separate issue of ROMAN-GAZETA ("Novel as Newspaper"). Like other books by foreign authors published in the USSR at the time, this edition is a piracy, with no royalties paid to the author. Errata only present in vols 1 and 3, so missing those from vols 2 and 4. Original cloth covered boards with what appear to be later leather spines. The leather has some wear to the edges. Vol 1 pages 1-2 are torn and damaged, but without loss, apparently glued back in. Vol 3 smaller tear to the inner margin, just into the text, reinforced along the rear. Pages 373/4 in vol 4 have tears along the edges and there is reinforcing to the inner margins of serval pages. Some tears to other page edges also. Some spotting and staining throughout. This edition translated from the Russian by Ralph Parker whereas the edition published in the U.S. the same year by Frederick A. Praeger was translated by Max Hayward and Ronald Hingley (the Praeger precedes this one per Fiene). Harrison E. Salisbury's January 22, 1963, review reads in part: "Of the two translations neither comes close to reproducing the rough vigor of the author's concentration camp slang .... However, Ralph Parker's version in the Dutton edition is superior to the patchwork thrown together by Max Hayward and Ronald Hingley for Praeger. The most striking blooper of the Hayward-Hingley translation is to put in the mouths of the prisoners the phrase 'Comrade Warder.'
