Jacket spine is sunned, but in general jacket has very minimal rubbing to edges. Internally clean and bright. French novelist Henri Alain-Fournier spent the summer of 1905 in London, improving his English by working as a clerk for Sanderson's, the wallpaper manufacturers. Sanderson's factory was located at Heathfield Terrace, Turnham Green and he became attached to the Gunnersbury area, with its villas and parks. This collection of letters outlines Alain-Fournier's enchantment with the green suburban life, paintings of the Tate gallery and principally his correspondence with Jacques Riviere, among other family and friends. Simone de Beauvoir is one of the readers of these letters, reading 'with passionate interest' his impressions of Edwardian English life. . Near Fine. Hardcover. First UK Edition. 1986.

Please select our Priority service if you'd like UPS / Fedex express servies, but even our Standard option is with UPS until Royal Mail sort themselves out.
Prices are in sterling, and are subject to availability. We can accept bank transfers in Sterling, Euros, US and AUS dollars. We ship priority shipping as standard, and pack our books well. Courier services available. We are also able to offer same day delivery within London postcodes for some orders - ask for a quote. Valuable items will be sent via registered airmail or one of the courier services. Large orders can be sent via consolidation, which reduces the cost per book. In the unlikely event of an incorrect description, a full refund will be provided, but please e-mail/telephone first, and within seven days of receipt of the book. We are happy to comply to the EU's rules on distance selling. All books are published in London and 8vo unless stated, and remain my property until paid for in full.
