Foxing to endpapers and prelims, POIs to front pastedown and ffep, else, clean, despite the poor paper stock. In the original dust jacket: price-clipped, spine darkened, spine ends frayed, chips to corners, toned and rubbed. Good+/ good+ Unusual. The track of the cat � at which the typographically punning dust jacket hints � is the tread of a cattle-killing panther in the snowscape of northern California, with the ranching brothers getting closer and closer as they try to hunt it in a blizzard..."You can take it as a symbolic, universal drama of man [sic] against an implacable Evil Principle, forever stalking him [sic]" (Saturday Review of Literature).
