Submitted as an academic thesis, this work is a detailed commentary on the sections on matrimonial law in Book IV of the Decretals of Gregory IX, one of the four works known collectively as the Corpus Juris Canonici. Among the topics discussed are marriage contracts, child marriage, bigamy, consanguinity and reasons for annulment, such as non-consummation. Unlike the typical thesis of the era, which is brief and confined to a single, well-defined topic, this work is broad and comprehensive.
