William Emerson was an 18th-century English mathematician known for his treatises on geography and navigation and math textbooks. One of his most important works, 'Tracts', was written in 1770 and was a treatise with a wide range of physics and mechanics practices. He described practical applications involving pendulums, material strength, engine power, hydrostatics, pneumatics, studies on gravity and friction, watches and timepieces, and much more.
This 1793 edition is filled with 27 folding engravings with dozens of figures depicting scales, geometric problems, gears, pulley systems, and mathematics charts.
