Amstelodami (Amsterdam): Jodocum Jansonium, 1649. 1-85, [3], 85-320pp, plates. Later full morocco by Cuzin, raised bands, spine in six panels, title in gilt to second panel, place and date to third with volute corner pieces, remaining panels gilt, with volute corner pieces and floral spray centre piece, covers with triple fillet border, double fillet to board edges, six gilt rolls to inner edges, a.e.g., combed marbled endpapers. Externally very good indeed, internally very lightly browned, small ink stamp of Selborne library to reverse of foot of title, reverse of folding plate reinforced along fold, otherwise bright and clean. Book label of G.H. Stephenson to front marbled endpaper. With eight portrait plates and the folding plate showing the execution of Charles I. Cuzin is described as a binder of "extraordinary excellence" (Fletcher, 'Bookbinding in England and France', pg 78). Usually attributed to Peter / Pierre Du Moulin. Lowndes 2660. First Edition. Full Morocco. Very Good. 12mo.

It is open between 10am and 4pm weekdays, any other times by appointment.
