James Primrose was a 17th-century English physician who is best remembered for his opposition to William Harvey. One of Primrose's most important works was his 'Treatise on Errors in Medicine'. In this work, Primrose identifies many of what he considered to be inaccuracies in medicine. It contains descriptions on melancholy, pregnancy and childbirth, epilepsy, with attention even given to the medical effects of tobacco!
