Gibble) ; published 1998. Covers and contents clean, bright, with minimal evidence of handling; nonauthorial gift inscription and date in ink on front endpaper. DJ crisp, glossy, with minor crease in front flap and slight shelfwear (no tears). From a note by translator: "This 5th Revised Edition was produced and published soon after Dr. Schilke's death in 1981 at which time the original 4th Edition was out of print. ... The present volume brings the history of the breed up to the year 1981. Many references to...the exportation of stallions and the size and significance of various breeding farms are no longer accurate in 1998 when the present translation was completed. ... The reader is therefore advised to keep in mind at all times that this is a book representing the breed of 1981--not of the nineties." Not library discard. ; .
