Octavo, [vi], 248pp. Orange covers, black cloth spine, title printed in orange and blue on spine. Stated "first edition" on copyright page, with "A-O" code below. Book appears unread. In publisher's first state dust jacket, $3.95 on front flap, faint toning to spine, chipping along extremities, closed tear to top edge of back panel, an overall very good example. Inscribed by the author: "For Marcia! Hurray for you! This is a real old one, and I'm glad to see it again. KABLAM! from the musket, + greetings from Jane Langton." Jane Langton (1922-2018) was a Newbery Medal award nominee in 1981 for her novel The Fledgling. She was the author of numerous children's books, such as The Majesty of Grace and The Hall Family Chronicles. The Hall Family Chronicles was a series of 8 books for young adults, starting with The Diamond in the Window in 1962. This work by Langton was the first of the Homer Kelly detective series.
