Aberdeen, 1847. 312pp. Antique-style half calf and marbled boards, leather labels. Some minor spotting on title- leaf and preliminary leaves. Overall very good. "A New and Complete Edition." This rarely seen Aberdeen edition was issued one year after the first, Philadelphia printing. Although Gilliam was appointed American consul to California, he never seems to have made it there, and the travel part of this book is devoted to Mexico, which he surveyed fairly thoroughly.
