This is the John Cameron illustrated deluxe edition hard back binding in publisher's original full vellum ornately decorated in gilt to the spine and to the front cover with full gilt border work; maritime images, top edge gilt, green and cream pictorial end papers. Untrimmed page edges. Hand-written number 0000 (out of sequence) of 250 Limited Edition copies. This Copy embossed on the title page: PRESENTATION COPY. Printed on 'Aldwych' water-marked paper with 12 full-page coloured plates by John Cameron (including the frontispiece) each mounted on dark brown card stock, with captioned tissue guards; numerous black and white tail pieces in the text. Some foxing to the page block edges which has crept into the text block in places. Overall VG indeed. Photographs/scans available upon request.
Sinopsis
Treasure Island is an adventure novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. The story was originally serialised in the children's magazine Young Folks under the title The Sea Cook over a period of several months from 1881-82. Traditionally considered a coming-of-age story, Treasure Island is the classic pirate tale, known for its superb atmosphere, character and action. It is one of the most frequently dramatised of all novels. The influence of Treasure Island on popular perception of pirates is vast, including treasure maps with an "X", schooners, the Black Spot, tropical islands, and one-legged seamen with parrots on their shoulders.
