Edinburgh and London: Blackie & Son. Second Edition. . Leather Bound. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavo.466 pages, indexed, plus 19 plates at the rear (collates complete; many folding). Hardcover bound in 3/4 black morocco with red marbled paper-covered boards. Raised bands on the spine. Top edge gilt. The binding shows light to moderate rubbing and wear with some scuffing on some of the bands and a bit of rubbing on the hinges in spots. Corners a little bumped. Marbled endpapers. The text is a little toned but is clean. The plates are toned but are quite sound. Stated Second Edition on the title page. No copyright date, but the consensus seems to be that the second edition was published in 1842.
