Contemporary half calf with five spine compartments between raised bands; gilt-tooled title in second compartment; decoration with gilt rules. Marbled paper over boards. Gilt-tooled at tail of spine: "J. Porter," former owner? First American edition. Based on the lectures given at the London Ophthalmic Infirmary by the English eye surgeon William Lawrence. The Register and Library of Medical and Chirurgical Science, published from 1833 to 1836, was the first medical journal published in Washington, D.C. In Very Good Condition: boards are rubbed; foxing; otherwise, clean and tight.
