Sobre este artículo
Chelsea: Ashendene Press, 1903. Undetermined. near fine. edition limited to 150 copies, 125 of which are for sale. [2], 48pp. Octavo. Full vellum with gilt titles to spine. Vellum has dried a bit since binding, resulting in some bowing of boards and a slight waviness to text block. Bookplate of E Bernulf Clegg to front pastedown, else internally tight and clean. near fine A gorgeous example of fine letterpress printing from the Ashendene Press, founded and operated by Charles Henry St. John Hornby in Chelsea, England, from 1895 - 1915 and 1920 - 1935. This edition is a faithful reprint of Berners' Treatyse of Fysshynge Wyth an Angle from the Boke of St. Albans of 1496. With seven woodcuts, including the famous scene of an angler catching a fish. The bookplate is likely of the same Bernulf Clegg known for his correspondence with Oscar Wilde about Wilde's famous "all art is quite useless" quotation from the Picture of Dorian Grey. A beautiful, fine press edition of the first printed book on fishing, limited to 150 copies on paper of which 125 were for sale. 1903
