Sobre este artículo
New York: Harper & Brothers, 1956. 1st edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Marc Simont. 1st edition. A Very Good copy in Very Good dust jacket. Tall narrow 4to., chiefly illustrated with b&w and color drawings. Cloth backed paper illustrated boards in similarly illustrated dust jacket. This is the TRUE FIRST EDITION with the words Harper & Brothers printed on the title page and NOT Harper & Row found on later editions. The dust jacket, priced at $2.50, is well preserved, with sharp edges and bright vibrant colors, but regrettably has had its rear flap cut away. The dj has a gold foil Caldecott award seal on the front panel. The paper boards have edge wear, with the tips rubbed through. Previous owner's name on the front paste down, and dated 1956. A Very Good copy in an attractive dust jacket (even if flawed). The dj is now protected in a newer mylar sleeve. Janice May Udry (born 1928) is an American author. She was born in Jacksonville, Illinois and graduated from Northwestern University in 1950. Her first book, A Tree is Nice, was awarded the Caldecott Medal in 1957 for Marc Simont's illustrations.
Sinopsis
A Tree is Nice is a children's picture book written by Janice May Udry and illustrated by Marc Simont. It was published by Scholastic in 1956, and won the Caldecott Medal in 1957. The book tells Udry's poetic opinion on why trees are nice: "Trees are pretty. They fill up the sky. If you have a tree, you can climb up its trunk, roll in its leaves, or hang a swing from one of its limbs. Cows and babies can nap in the shade of a tree. Birds can make nests in the branches.
