The Trembling of the Veil.

The Trembling of the Veil was the second of Yeats's seven autobiographical works, and was described by Arthur Symons as "an absolute masterpiece: far & away the best thing [Yeats] has ever done" (Ross, p. 559). The following year, Yeats was awarded the Nobel prize in Literature. Yeats's memoirs were collected in 1935 as The Autobiography of William Butler Yeats and consisted of Reveries over Childhood and Youth (1914), The Trembling of the Veil (1922), his Nobel Prize lecture, "The Irish Dramatic Movement" (1923), The Bounty of Sweden (1925), Estrangement (1926), The Death of Synge (1928), and Dramatis Personae, 1896-1902 (1935). This copy is from the library of Virginia bibliophile and historian Christopher Clark Geest, with his bookplate to the front pastedown. Octavo.
