Sobre este artículo
Veronesi: Arnoldo Mondadori, 1965. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket Issued. FIRST printing of this book which is completely reformatted and abridged from the author's earlier title, Uomini Sul K2. Text is in Italian. A full english translation of this book has not been published. Included with the book is a color postcard showing Compagnoni on the summit of K2. This postcard is signed by Compagnoni (not printed, but hand-signed in black pen) on the image side. The postcard is free of writing or marks on the address side, never stamped or mailed. The book is original glossy pictorial hardcover with color summit photo on front. This book was published without a dust jacket (= no example of this book has a publisher's dust jacket). This is the same photo depicted on the postcard, but the image on the book has been inverted (in error, intentionally?) and recolored (in error, intentionally?). The colors on the postcard are the correct colors. The book measures 200mm tall x 125mm, and has 82 pages, 8 color & 17 b/w photos. This book has one photo not in Uomini Sul K2, plus several different photos are in color, and two are reversed. This book was a special publication for the Grazia Ski Club members; it was not for general sale. Compagnoni's account of the trek into K2 along with comments on the preparation, technical aspects, and special considerations for climbling K2. This is followed by daily entries from Compagnoni's climbing diary written during his days on the mountain, along with several of Desio's notes to him that were sent up the mountain. Compagnoni's diary entries make up the bulk of this book. The book is in generally nice condition: clean covers, tight binding, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, no foxing. The signed postcard is in very good condition with no major flaws. Compagnoni's signature is strong and not fading. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL ITEM BEING OFFERED.
