Description: Illustrated by Herbert Tauss. This is from the Franklin Library Limited First Edition Society collection. From the author's special message written for this edition: ''A number of friends thought it strange when I made what appeared to be a drastic change of theme in embracing the Irish 'troubles'. Yet, when one examines it, it's not all that unusual. There exist amazing parallels between the Jews and the Irish that made them soul brothers. What I think attracted me most to Ireland was the parallel of her centuries-long struggle for justice, a tragic epic so similar to that of my people. And, like my own, the end of their struggle has not come to pass.'' An historical novel of Ireland, covering the period from the famine of the 1840s to the Easter Rising of 1916. The ''Trinity'' consists of three families: the Larkin family of Ballyutogue (generations of Catholic farmers); the Hubbles, representing three centuries of British aristocracy; and the MacLeods of Belfast, descended from Scottish-Presbyterians. Includes three maps.
