N.p.: The Artist, 1914. One of 35 numbered and signed tinted impressions of this evocative engraving by this well known Czech artist. Signed in pencil, lower left and with his red seal. Sheet size of 12 1/4 x 9 inches. Very good contrast. Matted, glazed and in a nice simple black frame. Tavik Frantisek Simon (1877-1942) was a Czech painter, etcher, and woodcut artist. Born Frantisek Simon, he later adopted the additional name 'Tavík', which was his mother's maiden name, generally signing his work T. F. imon. Largely ignored during the Communist era in Czechoslovakia, his work has received greater attention in recent years. Novak 216

Image measures 8" x 5.75".<br/> <br/> Beautiful and lush tropical scene with elephants and four figures walking on a trail. Circa 1927-1929. Minor crease to lower right edge. Tavik Frantisek Simon (1877-1942), born in Zeleznice, Czechoslovakia, traveled widely and visited the United States in the 1920s. His art represented impressions of where he'd been.<br/> <br/>
