Sobre este artículo
Hardcover edition published by Alfred A. Knopf. Originally published in French in 1949, this is a 1951 American hardcover edition.
Third in the 'Roads To Freedom' series. The story of a group of despondent Frenchman, experiencing the fall of France in 1940. Identifying the exact edition of this title can be tricky. Post-WWII club editions were often very similar in quality to the 'Trade' editions. It is not clearly marked as such, but it is most likely the book club edition. The dust jacket is not priced on the front flap, and the copyright page does not include the phrase 'First American Edition'. Even as a club edition, it is a nicely printed copy. Red cloth covered boards, with the title and author name on the spine - author name within an oval design on the front cover board. The dust jacket shows wear at the corners, edges, head and heel of the spine, age tanning to the spine panel, and has some creasing and abrasion wear to the edges of the spine panel. Cover boards are flat, the top right front corner is just slightly bumped. The word 'Paradise' is ink stamped on the top edge of the first flyleaf, and on the top edge of the back paste-down page, about 1" long and 1/4" tall. 5-1/2" X 7-3/4", 421 pages. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Some dots of age foxing to the top edge of the text block. Age tanning to the top edge too. Rough edges to the fore edge of the text block. Binding is tight and square. This is not a library discard copy. The attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory.
