NOT ex-library. Hardcover has red cloth-covered boards with gilt spine and cover lettering and decorations. Top edges gilt. Corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, with some fraying at tips and spine ends. Covers have edge wear and surface rubbing. Covers lightly soiled, with several spots on the front. Front hinge partially cracked along top two inches, but still strong. Back hinge NOT cracked. Top three inches of half title page is loose. Gift inscription on front free endpaper in pencil. Front endpaper has small rubbed area at top corner. Light binding crack near center. Pages clean and unmarked. Illustrations and color plates by H. H. Leonard; 20 color plates with tissue guards, 12 black & white. Plates are on glossy paper. Two color plates have light foxing on the back. Tissue guard on one plate is creased. 288 pages.
