One of the two great 19th century general bibliographical dictionaries of rare books and a useful complement to Brunet's Manuel. Extremely valuable for its bibliographical descriptions and useful annotations, which often include comment on the scarcity of the work under consideration. "In some respects superior to Brunet, and indispensable in a large library" - Sabin. "[Graesse] covered much the same ground [as Brunet] with slightly greater emphasis on German books" - Breslauer and Folter". As new.
