Josephine Fisher was the wife of Otto Orren Fisher, noted bibliophile. The author was a former Professor of the Ministry of Public Education in Mexico. An interesting book dealing with Mexico city and surrounding area, with much on the history of the area and important buildings, parks, palaces, etc. In the Preface, Deverdun writes that his aim is not to provide either a history or a guidebook, but rather to tell readers "something about the many places of outstanding interest in this most beautiful country. The book is divided into three sections, titled Aztecs and Spaniards; Colonial Mexico; and Environs of Mexico City.
