Sinopsis
The Trumpeter of Krakow is a young adult historical novel by Eric P Kelly, first published in 1928 by Macmillan. It won the Newbery Medal for Excellence in 1929. The story takes place in historic Poland in the Middle Ages and centers around a secret family treasure, reported to have mystical powers, and a young boy inspired to protect his family by the story of a the trumpeter of Krakow who warned the city of invasion by the Tartars at the cost of his own life. Although written for young people, many adults find the story captivating, and may find the lengthy historical exposition more interesting than younger students.
