Sobre este artículo

London: Gerald Duckworth, 1989. 230 pp, large 8vo (9 3/8" H). B&w plates. "Was the late Sir Roger Hollis, Director-General of MI5, himself a Communist sympathiser? This astonishing allegation has been widely canvassed since Hollis's death in 1973, culminating in the attack by Peter Wright in 'Spycatcher'. Now, using newly discovered, irrefutable documentary evidence unknown to the 'Spycatcher' team, W.J. West has established basic facts linking Hollis with Communism and Communist agents throughout his life, from his days as an undergraduate at Oxford where he was an associate of the Communist Claud Cockburn. The long-looked-for connection between Hollis and the Comintern during his years in China is revealed in contemporary evidence of Comintern infiltration of the firm for which Hollis worked in China. A colleague of Hollis's there was actually executed for accepting Soviet funds. In the war years Hollis is seen shielding the leaders of 'The Revolution that Never Was', a failed revolution in Britain in 1941 organised by Moscow and Berlin and designed to bring Britain out of the war when the country was at its lowest ebb. Later in the war Hollis is proved to be the officer who cleared Fuchs and Nunn May despite the fullest knowledge of their Communist sympathies. A mass of new evidence is cited about Guy Burgess, whose wartime activities, until now a close secret, are fully discussed, together with his vital role in steering British policy in China towards a recognition of Mao Tse Tung in the teeth of American opposition." Very light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine. Dust jacket has very light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine and flap-folds, minor rubbing.. Not Signed. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good.
