Illustrated dustwrapper with green, black and ochre coloured titles to the front panel and back strip A biography of Ivan Turgenev, 19th-century Russian writer. The book is not a critical examination of Turgenev's literary output, but, of the man himself – enigmatic and unknown – and the world in which he lived, and the people he knew and associated with.
