Istanbul: Turkish Press, Broadcasting and tourist Department Book. Illus. by 75 plates, 144 drawings of which 85 are colored, a few photos. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Original red cloth spine, brown simulated leather boards with a bright gilt title on the front. Some edgewear, mostly at the corners. Inside, clean and tight with no prior owner marks. No date or place of publication, but dedicated to Ataturk on the 50th anniversary of his death. Several of the color plates are folding. There are several editions of this book, but this is the large folio version. Pages 48 plus all those plates at the end. .

Turkish Press c.1953. 142 pages; 75 plates, 85 color illustrations (some tri-fold) within the plates, more than 50 b&w photo-illustrations, usually architectural. Disbound. Damping to lower margins of pages not affecting plates. The illustrations are in very good condition, colors vibrant, unmarked. All plates have descriptive captions; 45-page introductory essay; bibliography.. quarter cloth / paper boards. Poor/No Jacket. 13"x 9".

Patterned boards with light blue cloth spine. 49 pp., followed by 100s of bw and color illustrations on 75 plates with two tri-folds. Text is in English. A wonderful presentation. Oz was a former curator at Topkapi Palace Museum. Includes in-depth essays about different periods of Turkish ceramic-making, primarily tiles, with information on the ceramic decorations at several well-known mosques, mausoleums and other monuments (many of them in Istanbul); and another essay about Turkish ceramics in general, beyond tiles. A beautiful book!
