Staffa, Scotland: Staffa, Scotland Postal Service, 1981. "A Special Limited Edition in 23K Gold Commemorating the Extraordinary Treasures of Tutankhamun." This set is complete with 40 23k gold-foil stamps; the binder with 38 stamps and texts, plus a matching leather folder with stamps of Nefertiti and Akhenaten side by side. Pages in the binder are plastic pockets which contain matted stamps, with the text for the next stamp printed on the back of the mat. Also included: a Certificate of Authenticity ("...British private local postage stamps each valid for £8.00 of postal services in transporting mail from the island of Staffa to the mainland of Scotland. As sole owner of Staffa and its Postal Service, I have approved and authorized this issue...") and a small folding ad with order form, which repeats the text in the folder, adding some info about the artist and his method (the price of this pair was $40). The binder with 38 stamps is nf with just a touch of shelfwear to the bottom edge; the folder with 2 stamps is vg, having a scratch on the bottom front; Certificate fine; order form vg (bent corner); all stamps are fine.. Originally drawn up in 1886 in accordance to the suggestions of his [Wallis Budge's] friend Mr. J.M. Cook with vast information on ancient monumental Egypt.
