Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1972 Book. Fine. Hardcover. Reprint. At the age of seven, O'Sullivan (1904-1950) went to live with his grandfather on Great Blasket Island off the south-west coast of Ireland. This is his story until he left the islands for Dublin in the 1920's. Written in a magic realism style, it was meant only for his friends but gives a fair description of the last bastion of the original Irish culture and language. The book was originally published in Dublin in 1933 and later the same year in English. (Oxford "World's Classics" Series # 532) "Rendered from the original Irish with a preface by Moya Llewellyn Davies and George Thomson, with an introductory note by E.M.Forster.298p. maps on endpapers.
