Sobre este artículo

Slim 4to (6. New York & London: F. Tennyson Neely, 1902. Slim 4to (6.5 x 9.8"), 55 pp. Illustrated with black and white plates. Royal blue boards with lettering and the twin revolvers in gilt. Backstrip ends lightly rubbed, a few scuffs, small wrinkle in upper cloth, clean within. Very good copy inscribed by the author on front blank. § Inscribed by the author to a fellow veteran of the Civil War: "To Comrade W. W. Blackmar with compliments of Charles F. Manderson. Dec. 1904." Manderson (1837-1911) was a Union soldier and United States senator from Nebraska. The Twin Seven-Shooters is his spirited memoir of his war-time experiences, framed by the story of the capture and return of a pair of revolvers very dear to him. The story includes his personal recollections of the battles of Murfreesboro (Stone's River) and Chattanooga (Mission Ridge). The recipient, Wilmon W. Blackmar fought with the Pennsylvania 15th Cavalry and the 1st West Virginia Cavalry. He received the U.S. Medal of Honor for "extraordinary heroism" in the Battle of Five Forks and was Commander-in-Chief of the Grand Army of the Republic from 1904-05. Upon his death in 1905 he became only the second person in the history of Massachusetts to lie in state at the Massachusetts State House.
