New York: December 15, 1919., 1919.. Good. - 47 words typed on a cream-colored 8-1/2 inches square sheet of his personalized letterhead with his name & address printed at the top. Signed "Charles H. Sabin". The top left corner of the letterhead is lightly creased with a hole punched in it & a small piece out. There is some very light foxing to the right edge. Folded 3 times for mailing. Good.
Sabin declines Pond's invitation to join an honorary committee to welcome M. Maeterlinck [Belgian playwright Maurice Maeterlinck]: "[I] regret, as it will be impossible for me to attend the lecture or be interested in it, that I cannot serve on the committee."
Charles H. Sabin [1868-1933] was the president of the Guaranty Trust Company, the largest institution of its kind in the country. His wife, Pauline Sabin, considered Prohibition hypocritical and formed the Womens Organization for National Prohibition Reform to repeal it.
