A general history of the world, first published in England in 1801, an outline of the author's lectures given for many years at the University of Edinburgh. Published here in two parts, Ancient and Modern History, the former ending approximately with the fall of the Roman Empire, the latter continuing into the early 19th century. There is a 50-page chronology at the end of this volume with concludes with the Inauguration of President James Munroe(sic). Original leather boards have been professionally conserved and repaired; first two pages of text have some paper and textual loss; binding is sound, pages are rather heavily foxed. Scarce. .
